Where does one go to have an adult tested for their I.Q.?!

Question: Where does one go to have an adult tested for their I!.Q!.!?
Is there a facility in almost any/every city where one can go and have someones I!.Q!. tested, and have it be a reputable company!?

My wife has a learning disability and she has been on disability for it since she was six!. Well a few years ago she had to go in to SS office to update her files!. Well my wife ended up re applying for disability instead of filling out the proper paper work!.

Well because of it, it kicked her current case out of the system and basicly started her all over!. Well we got an attorney to see what we can do and he took her case!. But said he's never seen a case like hers before!. Where she was already recieving disability but because of an error had to start from scratch!.

Well we just heard from her attorney today!. Went to his office and he asked what doctors has she been seeing in the meantime to help her case!. Well I told him that a learning disability (mentally slow) is not a condition ppl go see a doctor about!. He agreed but looked confused at the same time, because most ppl who file for disability go frequently to see a doctor several years from start to finish!. And I suggested maybe he find out about a doctor or facility that does that kind of testing!. And he agreed to do that!.

I'm thinking "well Duh" shouldn't he have already known that as a SS attorney!? Seeing her condition isn't something thats treatable with medical visits!. So any advice or help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Many people with normal to high IQ, have brain dysfunction that leaves them incapable of mature, adult, reasoning!. The two are not governed by the same area of the brain!. IQ is basically stored information, unrelated to one's ability to use it wisely!. SO, IQ isn't necessarily the test --or, at least not the only-- test, that would show your wife's disability!. For example, for FAS/FASD/FASE, the currently suggested testing for adults, are explained:

FASD Assessment Tools:
"Individuals with FASD are likely to have deficits in three or more of the above functional domains!. These deficits can be present in those with a normal IQ and are difficult to detect and may not show up on a standard intelligence assessment!. These deficits are more likely to be detected using the Vineland assessment tool!. In most individuals with FASD, the Vineland score will be much lower than the individual
