HELP,WHY IS MY BROTHER GOING CRAZY ON ZOLOFT?!

Question: HELP,WHY IS MY BROTHER GOING CRAZY ON ZOLOFT!?
My Brother is normally a happy go lucky guy who has ran into some hard times,Financial problems,Unhappy marriage and a really bad job!. So he goes to see this Doctor and the Doctor put him on Zoloft!.He was never a person who suffered from depression, circumstances have caused him to be depressed and full of anxiety but this drug has turned him into a monster!.He has been talking lately of wanting to hurt someone, short tempered, doesn't care about life, his job,his children or anything!. As a Family we told him he was acting strange and we took the medicine from him and dumped it!. How long does this medicine stay in a person's system!? He has been on it for about a month!. Can he come off it cold turkey also!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Any side effects from a medication should be discussed with the person's doctor!. Zoloft can be what we call "activating" and in very rare cases cause suicidal thought and worsened irritability!. It can also be a sign of another problem such as bipolar disorder!. It can also mean he is getting worse and the medicine is not helpful!. Before blaming Zoloft TALK to his doctor!! Stopping it cold turkey is not harmful but it can cause withdrawal which can look like dizziness, fatigue, feeling like you have the flu!.

take him back to the doctor immediatly, speak for your brother to the doctor so your brother doesn't lie!. Have his prescription changed, send him to a counselor to talk out his problems in a group!. He's not the only one in this country with those problems!. He needs to be around people with those same problems and learn from them not just how to solve those problems but also how to accept and live with them!. Also don't let him mix alcohol with the drug, Bad, deadly combo!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think your supposed to ween yourself off of it but some people suffer some side affects when you take them off of it!. it takes a month to start working right so you may have taken him off it before it actually got through the bad stuff and started working for real!.

best of luck to you and i hope your brother feels better,

I took Paxil for a few months and then put it down cold turkey!. Zoloft is one step above that!. I could do it because I had a very strong Word foundation!. It depends on where your brother is at spiritually!. If you want some one on one counseling for him send me a private e-mail and I'll see if I can help, okay!?
Peace!

Antidepressants are pretty freakin' strong medicines!. Going cold turkey is a BAD idea!. Talk to the doctor!. Get a second opinion, if that makes you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Im on 100m of Zoloft and can tell you I had not one reaction when I started out on them !. It took about 6-8 weeks before I started to feel a difference and my wife could not believe the change in my emotional state!. This drug opened up a whole new life for me and after suffering deppression for 15 years without treatment I have found a new leese on life!. I see the world differently now!.
These behaviours that you have described are the complete opposite of what this drug has done for me!. Every one reacts differently but I would suggest you see your doctor before going off a drug like this !. Cold turkey is probably not the best way to do it !. I find if I miss taking a tablet one day I get headaches!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
