What is the best way to end a conversation with someone who is delusional?!

Question: What is the best way to end a conversation with someone who is delusional!?
I remember reading on the nami!.org website, that a "delusion does not require a discussion!."

I agree with that, but what is difficult for me is finding the right words to tell a delusional person that you do not want to visit with them!. I work with some people who have significant psychological problems; and even though I politely say that I do not have the time to talk to them, they keep coming at me like it's a competition, or that every thought in their mind is a life or death matter!. This is even though they are talking about a box of paper clips or some other inane matter!.

I try to be compassionate, but there comes a point where you simply have to disengage yourself from these individuals!. What do you suggest for appropriate things to say to stop their non-stop-talking and irrational behavior!? Do you simply walk out of the room, or hang up on them!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

My response would be "I'm terribly sorry, but I'm right in the middle of something at present!. I'll have to get back to you about this later" and walk away!. They can't accuse you of being impolite!.

Also, inform your superior and get him to do the dirty work!. I'm sure they would like to know how much time is being wasted on company time!. It's the role of management to call a meeting or send a memo informing people about time wasting!.

And lastly, always remember that selective hearing is your friend!. It's amazing how happy a person may be with with a simple platitude as you walk past, such as "how terrible"!.

"From little things bit things grow", this i recon is a delusional persons prime quote!.
You need to keep things really simple, and make sure everything you say comes from common sense,Letting these people go isn't easy because they are usually like Velcro, give them an inch and they take a mile!.
One tactic i use is constantly be busy, so you don't have time for small talk, eventually they will find another victim!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say I don't have the time for this at the present!. I too have stress's in life and you don't see me involving the world!. Tell them you are not into office politics! Excuse yourself and say you need the rerstroomWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm having trouble following what you are saying right now and I have to get back to work!. We should continue this discussion sometime when you are more calm!. Thank you!. Buh bye!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

maybe you should be just as irrational right back at them!. if that wont work, then just ignore, and walk away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
