Question: This is the nastiest thing I have ever HEARD of!.Help please!?
Please,help me out,but don't be rude!.I do something very disgusting!.I spit on my hands,they always feel dried out!.If I use sanitizer,lotion,etc!.,I literally right after that spit!.It just doesn't add up to me!.And oh God,if you rub your hands like on your jeans or some kind of fabric like for dress pants,I get the most crazy chill and NEED to spit on my hands!.I think I must be going insane!.I've done this for a couple of years,and my mother has finally told me if she sees me doing it again she is taking me to my doctor!.(I find ways to hide doing it lol)!.I am worried it will get worse if I don't try and stop!.Some days I have a great day and don't do it,but other days it's just horrible!.What is very odd though,is that I have hyperhidrosis as it is,(that is sweaty hands)but EVEN if my hands are sweating(I only trigger hyperhidrosis if I am gripping something for a while,pen,pencil,game controller,etc!.),I will STILL spit on my hands!.This,again,does not add up to me!.Please help me,how can I stop this disgusting habit!?

Sounds like one of those weird nervous or OCD habits that people can develop!. Some people spit on their hands!. Others pluck their hairs out one by one and eat them!. It varies!.

I'd say you need some therapy to determine why you do this and what you can do to break the habit!. If anything, for health reasons!. Your mouth isn't the cleanest place in the worlds, and your hands touch everythingWww@Answer-Health@Com

This sounds like some kind of OCD behavior!. The best way to overcome this habit is to talk it through with a therapist!. It may be embarassing for you but telling a therapist is a big step!. They will sense your trust and appreciate that you are coming to them for help!. And they WILL want to help you, no matter what!.!.!.they won't be embarassed!.

To me it kind of sounds like you have OCD since the habit of spitting on your hands is compulsive and you can't help but do it!.!.!.So maybe you should see a doctor or a psychiatrist because I don't think that there is any sort of medication, I think it's really just controlled through therapy, but here is a website that can tell you more about it and you can decide for yourself if that sounds like you

You know what, I actually DON'T think its OCD!. See people with OCD usually don't need a stimulus to do what they do- they are usually very meticulous about cleanliness and live in a constant fear of germs/infection!. That's where this habit of yours doesn't make sense!. I believe this has more to do with anxiety/stress or a traumatic even that has happened to you!. This is your way of dealing with it, much like many people deal with stress by grinding their teeth at night, or biting their nails!. Don't be afraid to go to a therapist as this is normal and happens to many people, hell I still bite my nails when test-time is near haha!. Hope this helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, if you have to hide it then it's a problem!. I would go to the doctor!. I mean there is not much else you can do to get help!. they can help you find a therapist for something like OCD!. You are obviously a little ashamed, so just go get outside help!. no one is gonna lock you up or anything and there are strict patient confidentiality codes in place so you don't have to worry about being publicly embarrassed!. If you can ask for help from total strangers on line, then you can talk to a professional who might just have something helpful for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you have an obsessive, compulsive disorder and need to be seen by a therapist who specializes in this!. It can be treated and there are millions of people all over the world who have it!. The longer you wait, the longer you will feel bad about yourself, so try to get your Mom to let you be seen!. She may not understand since she seems to reprimand you for doing it!. But maybe you could try talking to her, a close adult friend or family member!. You do need to be seen by someone and if finances are a problem, there are "pay as you go" clinics all over!. If all else fails, get the aid of the school nurse when you start back to school!. They can be really helpful in talking to parents for you!. Best wishes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you do have OCD!. The best thing you can actually do though is go see a doctor!.

But if you think you MIGHT be able to break this habit before you go to a doctor (once again, probably the best thing) than I would suggest wearing gloves on your hands!. It will be a reminder that you are trying to break this habit!. And if your desperate enough, put some duct-tape around the gloves so you can't take them off to spit on them!. Also, try replacing this bad habit with a harmless one, like chewing sugar free gum or something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
