What is the best way to deal with someone who is constantly talking, and is very!

Question: What is the best way to deal with someone who is constantly talking, and is very self-absorbed!?
I work with someone who sees himself as being much smarter and better than anyone else!. He has a know-it-all attitude, and seems to enjoy listening to himself talk!. Although he claims to be "open-minded", he always has to get the last word in, and is very argumentative!.

What is a calm, rational way that I can explain to him that he needs to ease up a bit and not be so unpleasant to be around!? My fear is that someday I'm going to explode and just tell him where to go!. Since I have to work with him though, I'm trying to be as diplomatic as possible!.

Also, would you classify his behavior as some sort of personality disorder!? He really is obnoxious and irrational!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
you sound like you are speaking of my husband!.!.!.I picture him to be just as you say at work!.!.!.at home I tell him i dont' care, knock it off!. If its my husband tell him "your wife says to shut it!." but seriously unfortunately at work we have to tolerate a lot of different personality types!. Your best bet is to run it by someone in HR even informally and see what they say should be done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

YOU DONT HAVE TO TALK TO HIM!.!.!. JUST IGNORE HIS RUDE NO IT ALL ATTITUDE!.!. !. HE ISNT NO BETTER THAN YOU OR ANYONE ELSE !.HE HAS NO OTHER WAY WITH DEALING WITH HIMSELF !. BUT IT MAKES HIM FEEL BETTER THINKING HE DOES!.!.!.!.MAYBE YOU NEED TO SET HIM STRAIGHT!.!.IT MIGHT CHANGE HIM BUT TRY NOT TO BE TO RUDE !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just ignore him!. If he starts to get argumentative just ignore his attempts at getting the last word in, shrug your shoulders, and say "whatever you say!."

If you are worried you are going to explode, just look him eye and tell him to please shut up!.

The personality disorder you are refering to is called: idiot!.
He is just an idiot who's cognitive ability to reason with emotional stability is either imparied, non-existent, or he just chooses to ignore it!. Its not abnormal!. Everyone acts like that at some point or other, some more than othersWww@Answer-Health@Com
