Usually therapists do their job because they get satisfaction from helping people!. Receiving a thank you card is a wonderful way to express your appreciation and would mean a lot!. Maybe even write what you have gained through therapy and such; a memorable turning point, or a few words of wisdom that have stuck in your head!.

As far as gifts go, I would suggest no gift!. As far as ethics go, many therapists feel it not ok to accept gifts as it would be in violation of their ethical code!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thank you cards are fine but gifts we are not supposed to accept!. Most counselors, though, if you present them with a gift, they will accept it, because what counselor is going to reject a client's gratitude!? That would be kind of disrespectful and could hurt the client's feelings!. If you are to give the counselor a gift, it should be something small, like a picture frame or candle, something they can keep in their office to distinguish that it was a gift based on their services, not a gift for their home or personal use!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i would go with something meaningful, but simple!. a card, and a token of gratitude, something they can keep in their office, but something unobtrusive!.

i've been seeing my therapist for nearly 9 years (yes, i know, it's forever, but life kept falling apart, so i kept going), and one of the things that made a real difference in my life was getting to a point where i could take on a full-time schedule at school!. the first semester that i did it, i took a course on basketweaving and made several baskets!. i couldn't have gotten this far on my own, and my therapist played a big part in helping me achieve as much as i have, so i gave my therapist one of my baskets!. he keeps it in his office, uses it to keep pens and notepads and other random stuff in next to his chair!. for me, it was a token of deep gratitude for all he's done to help me!. for him, it's useful, decorative, but also a reminder of the progress he helped me make!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A thank you card is always nice, if you decide to get her a gift, make sure it's not to lavish!. You don't want to seem too over-bearing, or she might want you back for a few more sessions! LOL like the others said some flowers, or even a nice picture frame, if she has pictures up in her office!. or if you are into making any kids of crafts or baking, make her something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've always found art pieces as meaningful and to the point type of gift!.I'm sure you can come up with something that does not cross the line!.Check out http://www!.paintyourlife!.com!. They make all types of personalized and unique portraits on oil, pencil, charcoal or on canvas!.

Personally I don't think we can ever show too much appreciation for one that has helped us or has been kind!.
I send cards quite often!.!.but try to write my own(using blank card)
When I give gifts of appreciation, I hand make them!.No matter how small, ppl seem to appreciate anything hand mad, even if it's cookies, a knit scarf!.!.!.anything!.

Once in a hospital a young girl simply gave me an apple from her first tray after surgery!. I never forgot!.It's the little things in life that can leave the largest memories!.

I dont know about a present but a thank you card would be more then appropriate!. After all, your therapist helped you express yourself and this is a way of expressing our feelings of gratitude!. I am sure she wont judge you!. I think its a nice gesture that she'll appreciate ;DWww@Answer-Health@Com

i think it is!. its just a way to show how much you appreciated their work and how much they helped you!. plus it will really make them feel good about what theyre doing!. maybe like a set of candles with a card or something for their office!.
good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Paying your bill on time should be thanks enough!. A card would be appropriate but I would 86 the gift!. A therapist is a professional doing their job and do not expect gifts and some professional ethics prohibit accepting gifts from clientsWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think it is a very nice gesture and if you feel that it is appropriate you should do it!. I always give gifts to people whom i appreciate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i would probably get a thankyou card rather than a gift!. But i don't know my therapist very well so wouldn't know what she would like!. Maybe a little box of chocolates would be okWww@Answer-Health@Com

a gift would be perfect!. something related to what you learned from her!. if i were you, i would give something that i made!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

honestly that's a great idea!. if u feel like she's helped you then getting her a gift will surprise her!. a card would ok but maybe some flowers or something!. giving her a gift will show that you apperciate her!.!.!.good idea!Www@Answer-Health@Com

A card and flowers for a lady!. A card and paper weight for a male!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I like the idea of a card, or even just tell her that you appreciate how much that she has helped you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

why would that be inappropriate, there is nothing wrong with giving a gesture of thanks for someones kindness go for it !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

a thank you card is always welcome!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Boundaries, ethics!.!.!. a thank you card should be okay!. I wouldn't do more than pay your bill on time, too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
