Question: Can my doctor tell my mom I cut!?
I used to cut for 3 years!. I don't anymore!. I have not cut in months!. I'm also talking to someone about it!. My mom is taking me to the doctor for birth control!. My doctor wants to do a pelvic exam!. I have a lot of self harm scars on my thighs!. I don't want her to know!. Can my doctor tell her!? I'm 17 almost 18,Www@Answer-Health@Com

NO!.!.!.its called breach of confidentiality and your mom is not privy to any confidential information passed between you and your doctor unless you have signed a consent to release information!.

He will tell your mom but it's best if you do it yourself!. I told my mom about a week after I started cutting and she was scared for me but she helped me get through it!. It's better if she hears it from you, trust me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If they are not fresh cuts, I don't think she will tell!. Though I don't know what her legal right is, as you are technically still a minor!. Could you wait until after your birthday to get the exam!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
