I am a hypochondriac?!


Question: I am a hypochondriac!?
im 17 and i always think i am having a heart attack! iknow its crazy and the craziest part is that i have been worring about being sick since i was in about 7th grade!. i know its all in my head and even i think its dumb!.
but i dont go a day with out worring about something!.
everylittle pain drives me nuts!.

i just want to forget about it and be normal!. and i try but its SO hard

you have anxiety!. i am like that too!.

i just remember my dr explaining to me, "the body doesn't work perfectly; sometimes we get little aches and pains!."

and i read that "80% of symptoms are self-limiting" (means they go away on their own, with no treatment!.

finally, i just remind myself of the many times i was worried, went to the dr, and it always turned out to be nothing!

also, a therapist taught me to just close my eyes and "observe" the symptom!. she told me to look at it with CURIOSITY, like you are curious about it, describe it, notice any changes in it, etc!.!.!. that is mindfulness meditation!.

Don't worry!. For you, this is normal!. You just have an anxiety disorder which is VERY common!. You just happen to have the type of personality that over-analyzes everything!. I am the exact same way!. Finally, when I accepted it as part of who I am and learned to laugh at my little quirks, it quit bothering me so much!.

you are not cazy, you are not dumb!.!.!.!.!.there are millions of people out there just like you!. Whenever you start worrying about something, just say to yourself, "well if I am having a heart attack, worrying about it won't change anything, so just let it happen!" And completely give yourself over to it!. Then it will go away!. As soon as you quit caring, you will quit worrying about it!. It takes a little practice, but you will see!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might have a type of generalised anxiety!.!.!.!.Anxiety/ pannic attacks start (out of no where!.!.!.) by heart palpitations, and most people automatically think: it's a hearth attack!!!!.!.!.!. and pannick even more!!!So they start having shotness of breath (hyperventilating), they may feell weak and dizzy!.!.!.!.Some poeple even pass-out!

I think you need to talk to someone you trust about those issues that scare you ( maybe your parents!.!.!.) And your doctor should definetelly look more into it, it may mean refering you to a psychiatrist!.!.!.!.or doing therapy!. In any way, if you want help, you need to talk about it with your loved ones and your doctor!.

It definitely sounds like you're suffering from a panic disorder!. I had the exact same thing and took myself to the ER with numbness in my arms and face before I thought I was having a heart attack and found out it was really a panic attack!.

Definitely go see a doctor and get some counseling, it does wonders, trust me!. You need to learn how to change your thinking patterns and stop believing that something horrible is going to happen to you all the time!. I was the same way for a really long time, and I still have to sit and convince myself that I'm feeling my anxiety, not a heart attack or something else!.

I hear you! Don't know if you're a hypochondriac; you could just be hypersensitve & very vigilant about your body!. Also, sounds like you may have trouble with anxiety (lots of people do)!. You might want to research "panic attacks" and see if that fits as part of your experience!. Some people outgrow this, or learn special coping skills because it can be very scary!. Others do well with medication and/or counseling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you could be one!.!.!.but i think it is normal to be worried about stuff like that to some extent!.!.!.you might be feeling a panic attack, they are similar to a heart attack in the way they feel sometimes!.!.!.but the fact that you are having a panic attack because you think you are going to have a heart attack is not normal if that is the case!.!.!.you should see a dr!. for some anxiety meds!. good luck!.!.!.your not dying!.!.!.calm down!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might get the best help from a doctor!. Sometimes I think I am too!. You are way too young to have so much stress!. I would also talk to your parents/parent or even a counselor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's possible!. It's somewhat normal for adolescents and older people to worry about illness, etc!., but not so much for seventh graders!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
