Answers:
yes i have BPD and have had it for over 12yrs!. i was married when diagnosed and by the 6th year he left me!. i was constantly moody, life was either the best or i was ready to die!. i would push him away then beg for his return!. if i was him i would have left me too!. i lost my husband, my new home, my friends, my pets, my vehicle!.!.!.i lost my whole life!. i tried to commit suicide 3 times!. living with BPD is one of the things i hate most about my life!.

with all that said!.!.!.i am now in the right therapy and on the right medications!. i have done well for myself, got a great job (which they are aware of my mental illness), found the love of my life (that is very understanding and supportive)!.

the cocktail i am on is: lithium, seroquel, abilify, vistaril, lamictal and dilantin!. it has worked for me for the over a year!. i still have my mood swings and seeing things in black & white, all or nothing!. but with therapy, medications and the support i have in my family!.!.!.i can live with this disorder and survive!.

SO CAN YOU! i wish you all the best!

~EDIT~

~EDIT~
another great book that i have read is "The Angry Heart" by: Joseph Santoro, PH!.D!. its about overcoming Borderline disorder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Is that bipolar or borderline persoanlity!? Either one of these disorders will drastically affect your relationship and entire life in general!. I have been diagnosed with both of these disorders at points in my life!. Medicine for bipolar can really help if you have bipolar disorder!. Lithium, depakote and abilify are used alot for bipolar!. Borderline is a whole diffrent deal though!. I believe borderline to be a more devastating disorder!. Medicines can be used to treat symptoms that are present at certain times but there are no medicines that can treat the disorder as a whole!. Borderline personality is a long term deal and the only thing that can be done is alot of therapy and being with someone that has alot of love and understanding!. Generally borderline fades away in the mid thirties so it usually is not a lifelong affliction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It kinda got in the way, but i wasn't real bad, i was just lower grade bipolar!.!.!.!.!.i hope that's what you are calling BPD either way, they put me on Seroquel 100 mg's and i only took it at night and it knocked me out!. I don't think she left be cuz of the BPD but she left me for other reasons!. the meds helped, they allowed me to get a good nights sleep and wake up rejuvenated and ready to goWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. I have borderline PD (or so I was told at the age of 28)

I used to find it very hard to deal with relationships as I saw everything very black and white!. Either things were great or they were terrible!. I also had problems controlling my anger and would say horrible things when I was upset which I would later regret!. My first husband split up with me, and 14 years down the line I still feel bad about how I treated him sometimes!. It wasn't that I didn't care about him, I did!. But I was so wrapped up in my own feelings and so out of control of my behaviour and emotions that I ended up driving him away - exactly what I had feared most came true!.

I do not take meds!. I've tried different antidepressants over the years during crises but I feel I function better without them, especially now I'm older!. When I was first diagnosed (16 years ago), mood stabilizers were not routinely used for BPD!. In hindsight I feel I might've benefited from something like that!. I've paid to have a lot of therapy because I was very motivated to understand myself, and have gained much more control over my feelings, emotions and behaviour and have a lot more insight into how my actions affect others!. I remarried 7 years ago and was lucky enough to choose somebody who saw through my anger and fear to the real me underneath!.

edit - "I hate you don't leave me" is a good book!. I got hubby to read that and he said it helped!. So is "Walking on eggshells"!. I'm sorry your partner didn't feel able to stick with you, but it is very difficult for them when we are acting irrationally and they can't understand why!. I hope you can eventually find your way through to a place where you feel more settled and happy with yourself!. It's not easy but it's possible!. Good luck hun!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

OH dear, I have bipolar type 2 and it affects not only myself but my love ones for sure!!!

Sadly , some people leave when the going gets though!.!.!.but some stay!! If you feel like your illness is affection your social life, you can follow therapy that will help ( or go to the librabry and look-up self-help books)

I know it sucks to feel like no one is standing by us!. Sometimes we get scared no one wants us!. But don't let it bring you down!! You have a medical condition!! Would you leave your friends is they had!.!.!.let's say diabetes or epilepsy!!!?!? Some shallow people leave (but we don't need that type of surrounding;)!.!.!.)Good people will stay!! Focus of building a good frienship-support system where you can count on people!. I know it's a long proccess but : It the quality and not the quantity that counts;) Remeber that!!

As for medication, I have tried every anti-depressant (effexor/prozac/zolft/wellbutrin/celexa/!.!.!. they don't work for me:(!.!.!.I tried lithium !.!.!.same thing:S!.!.!.!.seroquel!.!.!.same thing:S!.!.!.!.I am now on Epival!.!.!.!.but it needs adjustements!.!.!. Some people are "lucky" and can get the right combination of meds!. from the start and others(like me) are hard to medicate!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
