I know eating is the last thing on your mind. Do you take medication? My husband takes seroquil and it really gives him his appetite. He is also bipolar and lost 45 pounds during a episode without medication. He also started to excersise and thought he felt the best he ever had.

His health went way down and his teeth are not in good shape and now is forgetful.

Please take care of yourself, not being hungry could go on for some time and you wont know until the damage is done. This is a common sympton of bipolar.

Hello,
Listen to your own body and quite trying to keep up with society.
You are drinking a lot of fluids, just because something is a fluid does not mean your body is not making it a food, chemically.
Add anything to water and walla it is made into food by your body.....therefor making you not hungry.
Ever wonder why people do not loose the weight they want to when on liquid diets?
You do not need more stresses in your life, right? Don't worry about it k :0)

I think that the fluids substitues the food you need to eat that's why your brain might not be reading that you're hungry. Try drinking less fluids and actually input some food. Fluids are good but they can become a hazard if it's 97% more than food. The exericising can make you thirsty and you tend to drink alot but your body needs proteins or else you'll become weak. Try eating some breakfast everyday include sausage or bacon...then lunch like some chicken salad or chicken sandwich...then dinner like a real dinner. (I don't know what you like for dinner, as long as meat is included).

Make a meal plan for each day. Chose foods you really like and that are colourful and have variety of textures. Set a time for when you are going to eat each meal. Make only a small amount but serve it on the biggest plate you have- that way it will look even smaller. Don't worry about the fact that you are only eating small portions - it is more important to keep to a varied nutritious diet than to eat loads. Your appetite will come back. I know people who went through periods of eating nothing who now eat normally again.

First, don't listen to the ppl saying less fluids. Almost all stabilizers require more fluids.

Have you changed meds? There are a couple that can cause reduced appetite in some. If you've changed or changed dosing, that might have something to do with it.

The bigger thing to do some self-assessment on whether you are showing any signs of hypomania. Is your sleep need down at all? Is your energy up at all? Loss of appetite can go with increased activation, and for you it might be a leading indicator. If it persists, definitely call your doctor. In the mean time, try eating small amounts of healthy foods throughout the day. It's usually easier than trying for a whole meal. If you are forgetting to eat those small amounts... give yourself a couple other things to remember to do during the day. If you are forgeting those too, that may well be more of a hypomanic sign than anything. And, yeh, I have bipolar which is how I have a bit of a clue.

If eating is a problem temporarily, try supplementing with several cans of Ensure each day. They contain vitamins & minerals, & are a fully-balanced product. If the problem lasts longer than a week or so, you need to speak with your doctor. You don't mention being on medication for the bipolar illness, so if not, you should be. Therapy should be a part of your treatment paln as well..
