Why does depression have to suck.?!

Question: I'm 14 years old and I suffer from depression
I haven't gotten help yet b/c I'm scared to tell my mom

She doesnt know how to deal with stuff like this.
I tried talking to her about it and she just panics and tunes me out.
then she found cuts on my arm and she said she was going to send me to a mental institution if she found anymore cuts.
Then she found out that I tried to commit suicide. And I had to have a long talk with her about it.
But I'm scared if I try to talk to b/c she doesn't like talking about it so what should I do.

it's very important that you get help !!! if you feel like you can't talk to your mom, talk to school guidance counsellor and be totally honest. she/he will be able to help. that's waht they are there for. living in denial will not help you or your mom. she needs to face the truth and get you help.

Depression has to suck because if it didn't it wouldn't be called depression.

Talk to a school counseler, a friend or call kids help phone or something.

I'm sorry that you feel like you cant go to your mom for help. But you clearly need help, especially if you're cutting. Is there an aunt, a teacher, a friend's mom you can go to? Do you think your mom would agree to let you talk to a therapist?

talk to your school counselor.they'll help you talk with your mother. And also give you some information and get you the help you need. Its nothing to be scared of.Just make sure to tell them the whole truth about your thoughts and feelings.Good Luck if u want to talk you can.

You don't need a "mental institution"...but you do need someone who understands...just going through puberty and teen age years is confusing enough. You need a good therapist. Don't try and do this on your own...tell her you would like a professional to help you through all this. You will get through this believe it or not!!!!! Don't try and do it the hard way, which is...alone

yo *ss a cutting emo
