Convincing someone to go on medication?!

Question: my sister is extremely bi-polar and spoiled and INSANE she has a little boy who just turned 5 and i feel really bad for him she can't take care of herself and she has this loser boyfriend who she let legally adopt her son. in public she comes off really well, shes respected and acomplished but behind the seens she's out of control i never want to talk to her because i don't know what mood she's in and she has stolen upwards of 15,000 dollars from my parents and doesn't care because she thinks she deserves it. its just an awful situation. she was arrested about 6 years ago and while in jail she was diagnosed as bi-polar but shes never been on meds or gotten a second opinion. how can we get her to realize she needs help?

sorry for the spelling :)

You wont be able to. Most bi polar people dont think anything is wrong. Hence they dont take meds. You might think she needs them but she doesnt.
I totally understand though, I know someone close that needs meds and she wont take them either. I hate it cause I wont talk to her. She thinks its my fault.
You can try talking to her or have your parents talk to her, have and intervention, other than that not allot you can do.

Manic Depression is a serious illness that can be controlled with mood stablizing medication. The difficulty is that some people enjoy the manic feelings and do not want to surpress those feelings with medication. You are put in a difficult situation where you are concerned about your sisters mental health and how it is affecting your family and your nephew. I encourage you to voice your concerns to her in a loving way and hope that she takes the next step in getting help. Good luck!
