Why my relative from China loves bragging so much?!
Question: I have a good job and good income so i travel four times a year overseas. I have an aunty who loves in China who is 56 years old, i stopped over in China after my trip to Japan just to visit her. She works as a nanny for some family on a basic income. She is a very nice person overall, but she coudn't stop bragging about her wealth, she constantly tells me how rich she really is, she has million dollars worth of real estate by she don't tell anyone, she is so rich and if she wants to travel overseas she can too. I really love her but this constant bragging make me sick, even i got a good job i don't brag at all, i just keep it to myself. why do you think she loves talking about her wealth so much?

It's good that you don't brag of you wealth and your good job....however sometimes people are lofty in their behavior, you cant really help.
You said she's a nice person, maybe she wants that you too earn as much wealth as she, coz she doesn't know that you too have enormous wealth.....you keep it to yourself right!!..
maybe she wants to set herself as an example for making good money...take it that way!!..
why do you think she never tells anyone abt her ginormous wealth that she has gathered throughout her life??..she likes you, and she wants you to be the same.
maybe sometimes you too should give her a fair idea of your wealth in a quite meek way....without hurting her conscience....let her know about your good job and the way you like traveling, and if you still think that she's still the same, then let her brag, its only that you keep your patience and wait till your departure date from China.
she wants to feel that she's above others in wealth making her feel superior to you just let her brag money isn't everything to everyone....let her brag you only see her occasionally !!
thats cultural socio-psychological phenomena. some cultures are more into the 'to have' mode while others are more into the 'to be' mode. Depending on the cultural background, self-affirmation is done either by 'i have' like in the case of your aunt, or 'i am' claims. Hope, if you see it that way you will be more tolerant to her talks the next time she brags about richness.
