How does a schizophrenic think?!

Question: I recently found out that one of the people that lives on my floor in my building suffers from schizophrenia. Not know much about it I figured to look it up. After reading a little on it a website informed me that they think differently from people that do not suffer from it.

They said that schizophrenics have "unorganised thinking" patterns.

Can someone give me a example on how they think?

They may think,

"I have to go to the store.

I have to go get milk.

Milk is from cows.

Cows have fur.

PETA members wear fake fur.

Fur comes from animals.

animals come from the zoo.

the zoo is built by construction workers.

construction workers need milk too..."

I have this kind of thinking sometimes, and to be honest...I have people tell me that they have no idea what I am talking about, until I realized what my brain was doing. So I slow my thought processes down, so I could have coherant conversations.

They don't think. The voices do the thinking for them.

They tend to suffer from hallucinations and are often paranoid. They may have a persecution complex. They will have "positive" and/or "negative symptoms.

Positive symptoms include delusions, auditory hallucinations, and thought disorder, and are typically regarded as manifestations of psychosis. Negative symptoms include features such as flat or blunted affect and emotion, difficulty communicating, inability to experience pleasure, and lack of motivation.
