How dose the person that rape you have power over you?!
Question: Well for starters you are totally under their control. you can't move or get away. Then the rapist violates you in the most intimate way. Touching you, invading your privacy, doing things to you that you do not want to happen, watching your terror. You have no control, only the rapist does. They do whatever they want even tho you are screaming no. That pretty much sums it up... they do what they want and you have no power.

I think Justanother1 means "post rape" not during the assault as such.
Unfortunately," don,t become their victim , don,t stop living your life ," isn't that easy to do. It's a little more complex than that, but I can see where you're going with that idea.
"report them to the police take away their power." That would be great if we had a legal system that made reporting rape a little more "user friendly".
In answer to your question, when a person is raped, the rapist takes away the survivors freedom to give consent for what is about to happen, or for what is happening. Since rape is an act which doesn't involve consent, power enters the equation.
