Anyone know/went to an eating disorder treatment centre in Australia?!

Question: One in/near Sydney or NSW would be best.

if you went to one,
how long were you there?
how much did it cost?
did it help?

thanks a lot

hey I'm just 16 and have been in and out of ed treatments with anorexia
ok so there is one near the harbor bridge called Northside i was there for 3 months (but its different for everyone) i wasnt well at all and i was 13 sooooo i was alot younger

northside is ok its not as strict as it needed to be for me...
are you wanting to admit your self??
because if you are and you want to get better it will help amazingly you need to comply but the last thing i wanted to do was get better...

there is also one called wesly at ashfield sydney
This one had a much better affect on me because they also have an out patient facility soo after you finished the inpatient prog you would move onto out patient which was 5 days a week morning tea till dinner and i was in there for around the same time limit but thats 1 time and after that i was in and out of the out patient prog which is a very good option if you are not at the completely critical stage.....

i have been out of hospital in patient for almost 2 years now and its amazing although i get treatment every week i feel asthough I'm finding my ground a little
an eating disorder is a bloody nightmare

please give me more info whether it is for you or a friend or daughter and i will give you info on doctors and phycos because i would hate to ignore this topic....

well ive been in C4A which is kinda Westmead Hospitals psych ward. but it specialises in ED's. since its run by the hospital its free. i was there for a few months and i found it very helpful. its not really a rehab or anything but they do try to run programs and things. though its not just for ED's. there are people with other mental illnesses too.
i dont know if its what your looking for, but its always an option. you can present yourself to the emergency unit and they can assess you and transfer you up there. take care hun, hope things work out for you!

They are very expensive (the private ones), you can check if you have private health insurance that will cover it (usually the highest cover). There is also one at RPA which is free.
