Anyone heard of this kind of OCD?!
Question: I will obsessively remember useless/mundane names/dates/anything over long periods of time which can be very annoying. For example, I don't like hearing numbers on the radio or reading names in the paper because i'm "anxious" that i'll remember them for no reason without them meaning anything to me. Pretty sure it's some kind of OCD, but has anyone heard of this particular variation?

Yes I've had that, used to have a big problem with names, just like you said, I'd hear one on the radio or tv and just get stuck on it, really annoying. I went to a shrink got on paxil and xanex, actually helped me allot. Good luck.
Sometimes I'll say a phrase that I swear I invented. But then I'll watch tv or listen to the radio and someone else will repeat the exact same phrase I thought I owned.
It made me wonder if it caught someones' attention and they repeated it so many times that it became famous.
Anytime anyone obsesses about anything its a form of ocd. When he makes you more anxious etc.... People have ocd for all kinds of things.

it can be a range of anxiety, depression, forgetfulness, everything like that,
it can happen to any1 from a really young age, as u said it can effect people such as ones who count, and count over agian, people who r praying for instance, all types, jus type it into google. real good info on it
ocd is ocd no matter what you think or do or say its the same thing no special different names and degrees ocd

there are many forms of OCD my mom has the kind where she is constantly cleaning kinda like the show monk,mine is with DVD'S i have to count and reorganize my dvds everyday and they have to be perfect and sometimes it will take hours thinking of where to put it cuz all of my dvds link for instance these movies;davinci code,road to perdition,artifitial intelligence,the number 23,and the invisable......tom hanks(davinci code)tom hanks and jude law(road to perdition)artifitial intelligence(jude law and haley joel osment)and the woman who plays jim carreys wife in #23 played haleys mom in the sixth sense,and the producer of 6th sense also produced the invisable.
