Question: I am going to vomit!
My 19 year old nephew was discovered to have an eggplant-sized tumor in the middle of his chest 7 years ago. It was lymphoma, non-Hodgekin's, (CANCER) at the age of 13.
They gave him chemo and radiation to kill the cancer.
He went into remission 1 year after that. He is my oldest brother's only son. His parents have been divorced since he was 2. My whole family is about silence, denial, oppression,
Not ever saying or doing anything someone might call you weak for. One brother dead, mine, a year and a half ago. Parents who can not confront any issue except "Be Happy" all else, don't speak about.
My nephew I believe is taking Heroin by mouth. He was in a program (outpatient rehab) for having become addicted to other powerful drugs. He is now back into marijuana, heavily.
Now licking a dull knife full of heroin in between. Thing is, he's told me, he can not go to sleep because he thinks of the Cancer coming back. The tumor is not removed, but instead wrapped

As long as you are in touch with your spiritual side I would say to follow your heart. If you care about your nephew you will not be silent. Have you tried to confront your nephew?This seems like a truly tough situation and i pray that you come to the right conclusion

You've told us your situation, but I cant really pick out a real question you want us to answer. Why would you want everyone to know these things, what are you trying to get out of it.
ok..so i read it, and im not understanding what you want us to tell you...you aren't asking a question you're just telling us what has happened to your nephew. do you want us to like give you advice? give you comfort?? please add details on what you want everyone else to tell you

I'm sorry about the painful situation. That denial atmosphere is awful. I would tell your brother right away. And then I'd take rebellion against the denial and perfectionism. But I know it can be very stressful and depressing for you. So, also try to speak to your friends (outside family) and spend time with them, while breaking the denial code. You'll need their support and reassurance. It's difficult a burden to carry alone.
I really don't think you have much choice - by law, he's considered an adult. Try to find someone who he respects to act as a role model for him - someone from your religious affiliation, a (distant) family member, someone from his school (coach, counselor, peer) that he might listen to - will probably be the best (or only) course of action at this time.
I really think you need counseling...
