Bi polar disorder is characterized by alternating "high"moods and depressed moods. With "mild" bipolar the high moods may consist of mild euphoria, decreased need for sleep, racing thoughts and grandiose ideas.
The depressed moods are just that, a period of depression and much lower productivity/the inability to enjoy one's life.
Everyone is different. Even with the abundant criteria offered in order to effectively label and diagnose mental illnesses, people are all different .

What part --if any-- do foods or drinks that contain caffeine
& / or theobromine (found in chocolate) play in your diet? (I ask, because ingestion of these two things have been linked to both disorders that you have asked for info about.)
as far as i know, Bi polar is a mood disorder. If a person is depressed, he'll be very very very depressed i say.. and when he gets excited, he'll be too exagerated...
Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic depression, is a mood disorder. There are different forms of it. It is far too complex for me to begin explaining here right now.
