Have you ever been addicted to something and were able to overcome?!

Question: Were you ever able to defeat something that was destroying from the inside? How did you make the decision to be rid of it? How did you go about destroying it? Are there things that you regret? Thank you, I know this is personal.

Hey there, yes. I was addicted to amphetamines for 13 years.
I went to prison a few times, but only for short periods of time.
But the last time I was in for 4 years. Still on parole till oct 2008. Been out for nearly 2 years, and haven't touched the crap. I hate it now, I hurt alot of people, family, friend and even strangers. I know I have to live with my actions for the rest of my life. Luckily I have an amazing family, who never gave up on me. (even though they should have.)
So yeah, I gave up the devil, cause thats exactly what speed is. Last time I had a whack was October 2002.
Never going back......

i thought so but then i really only gave up popping pills, everything else i just learned moderation i guess. except cigarettes mand o i like those beauties

chap stick

weed, clean for more than a year

I used to abuse medication really bad. I decided to quit when i woke up one day, after mixing many pills, covered in sweat and blood. I hadnt told anyone about this problem before this and i was really nervous. I ended up talking to one of my best friends who is a few years older than me and he told me all the reasons why i dont need to be dependent on medicatuion for my happiness. I quit for 2 months and then i had a relapse because i was very depressed, but i quit again. All in all, i realize how stupid it was for me to even start taking all these meds in the first place.

yes!I woke up one day and relized it was killing me.I had a lot to lose if I kept doing what I was doing, and the bad over weighed the good in it. I stayed away from it and a lot of praying. I regret for keeping it in my life for all that time, when now I look at a lot of lost time in my life. BUT I have a testimony I can say I over comed that trial which we will all have and you can too.good luck.

I know someone who was on drugs before, she never be able to overcome it. It was a sad story. Do not get on it.
