Whats the difference between mixed state and rapid cycling?!

Question: Tnx i really appreciate it!

Answers: Tnx i really appreciate it!

In mixed states both the depressive and manic symptoms are prominent every day for at least a week. Both syndromes occur together. In rapid-cycling clear manic episodes alternate with clear depressive episodes but they are not intermixed. So you may have several days or weeks of pure manic symptoms and then several days or weeks of pure depressive symptoms in rapid-cycling but they do not occur simultaneously as they do in mixed episodes.

Mixed state is when you experience being manic and depressed at the same time! Now rapid cycling is when you go from being depressed to manic really fast. It usually happens at the same time you are depressed, you switch from being depressed to manic at a fast pace in the same day. Can happen for days. A person usually switches within a very short period of time. I hope this clears this up for you. Thank god for spell check.

Mixed state, both depressed at the time of as having the manic state, and the hyperactivity.

Rapidly cycling - you alternate quickly between the 2 states, going through many cycles a year.
