Jasmine and Green tea benefits?!

Question:

Jasmine and Green tea benefits?

I recently went to a friends house, and she made me a cup of jasmine and green tea. It tasted SO good! I had to go out and buy some for myself.

Are there any benefits to this tea? I know that green tea is supposed to be good for you but what about the jasmine? What does that do?

I need to add that I do not usually consume any caffeine, and I know that this tea must contain it becuase it does not say decaf on it, and i know that green tea does contain caffeine.

I'm only having about 1/2 cup at about 6:30am..(Becuase I never drink anything containing caffeine, when I do, I have trouble sleeping at night)

Answers:

It is believed that the health benefits of jasmine tea may surpass those of green tea. Several studies have found jasmine tea lowers cholesterol levels. Other studies found that fruit flies lived 20% longer when jasmine tea was added to their drinking water.

All teas (green, black, and oolong) are harvested from the same plant (Camellia sinensis). The method of processing creates the different types. Green tea contains the highest content of various antioxidant compounds (polyphenols) that have been proven as beneficial in fighting certain cancers, to help lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure, to help prevent food allergies, to reduce the risk of flu and infections, and to reduce the effects of aging. Vitamins C and E and beta carotene are also prevalent in green tea. Enough fluoride is found in green tea to help reduce plaque formation and bacterial infections in the mouth. The caffeine content found in green tea is about a quarter to an eighth that of coffee and less then a can of cola but varies with the brewing time.
