What is your personal experience with endometriosis and naturopathic treatment? !

Question:

What is your personal experience with endometriosis and naturopathic treatment? (Mature answers only please!)

recently i was diagnosed with stage 3 endo. my ob/g suggested Lupron, but i was sure pseudo-menopause wasn't what i needed in my life right now! ;) even if it MIGHT help me get pregnant (been trying for 1.5 years--im 32).

i found a WONDERFUL website that helped me realize i had other options (below). i knew i needed to lose weight (about 75lb), and i suspected i had low thyroid even tho my blood tests said it was "fine." so, last week i went to see a naturopath. i am now eliminating wheat and dairy from my diet, taking a tincture of dulse, bladderwrack, wild lettuce & irish moss for my thyroid (my hypo suspicions were correct!), a tincture of red clover to clean up the endo/scar tissue, and magnesium and B-complex for my adrenals and stress. i am also on a low-dose progesterone cream.

in addition, i take fish oil, evening primrose, & a black cohosh blend every day. i have had one period since my surgery last month--it was TONS better!

what's your story? :)

to answer Mrs. Wizard, black cohosh is traditionally used to ease menopausal symptoms (low estrogen). it has also been used for PMS and cramps, which is why i chose the blend i am using.

the blend also contains Dong Quai, red raspberry leaf, cramp bark, saw palmetto, wild yam, butternut and kelp, all which combined are known to support a healthy hormone balance and strong reproductive system.

i have actually been thinking of holding off on this supplement since i am making radical changes to my diet which i feel will provide adequate benefits. less pills (prescription or NOT!) are always better! :)

hi fisherwoman--thanks for the heads up on the black cohosh. my naturopath had instructed me that as soon as we start trying to get pregnant again, that its better i stop taking the black cohosh since it has estrogenic properties. once conception takes place, estrogen is supposed to drop so continuing the black cohosh could compromise the pregnancy. thanks again!

Answers:

From my experience black and blue cohosh both are used to either help start menstruation and/or labor. How does this help you? I have no experience with the other herbs and stuff you are using but, I definitely believe in the power of homeopathic and naturopathic medicine.
