Homeopathic remedy for earache...does this actually work?!
Question:
Homeopathic remedy for earache...does this actually work?
Ok so my son has an earache in both ears. I have been told this morning by two co-workers to have him pee in a cup and put some pee in his ear, and that it will take it away completely. Is this for real? I'm ready to try anything, but I figured this may need some third or fourth opinions..anyone?

I just finished going to the Dr. for yet another ear infection my daughter got. I have received a bottle of garlic and mullein in olive oil from my naturopath. You warm it up and drop 1-2 drops in each ear. You can make your own as well. The garlic is a natural antibiotic and the mullein is soothing. I have included a link below with a recipe. It calls for fresh mullein but I would assume you could replace it with dried. Mostly you just cover the mullein and chopped garlic with olive oil and let sit for a few days to infuse the oil. To warm the oil, either hold a dropperful under hot running water until warm, or you can warm up a spoon in hot water, empty the dropper of oil into it, then suck it back up again. At the first sign of a cold or infection, I would start this remedy. I always make the mistake of not being consistent. I missed a couple days of drops and she got the infection.
Another remedy that I have tried and seemed to work...this may sound funny but...breastmilk is a wonderful natural antibiotic. I read this on Mercola.com. He says if you can't use your own, ask a neighbour...ha ha! But I was breastfeeding my son, so I tried it on my daughter. A few drops in each ear every 4 hours. It seemed to go away...it's so hard with these things because they may go away on their own, or maybe these remedies (or antibiotics) do work...who knows. I just know that when your child is screaming for the pain to go away...you will try anything. Good luck to you and I hope he is feeling better. If he consistently gets earaches I would try the mullein oil. It is easy to find bulk in any healthfood store and easy to make. Oh, and please, please don't put pee in his ears....lol.
