Does poo contain DNA? I broke into a house and took a dump outside?!

There would be human DNA in feces. Cells from intestinal/rectal walls and stuff like that can go into into the feces. However the cells have to survive digestion, and there will also be bacterial DNA as well, so I believe feces would be far from ideal specimens in the lab.

It's similar to how saliva itself doesn't contain DNA, but often contains cells in it from the inside of the mouth.

I have no idea how often police investigators look for feces at a crime scene though.

It might look like it, smell like it and taste like it, but until it's subjected to random controlled double blind placebo experimentation they can't make any assumptions.

Who cares. They aren't going to take DNA samples for that, it's not a murder. And let's say they did....you think there's just some big DNA database that has every bad guys DNA in it? Unless you're already a suspect, they aren't going to be able to match your DNA to any found at the house.

I don't believe it does, though it MIGHT because doctors occasionaly take what are called "stool samples." But in all honesty, you shouldn't have broken into someone else's house; you wouldn't have this problem. And why did you take a dump outside?
