My brother isnt effected much by heroin... does he have a natural tolerance?!

Question: My brother isnt effected much by heroin... does he have a natural tolerance?
Me and my sibling have occasionally used heroin... whats really weird is I have NEVER met someone that didnt really get high off of it. I can shoot up a 1/4 gram and Im gooood for the night. He barely feels anything off the same amount... this is good stuff too... I have never met someone that heroin didnt affect like that...

how is that so? hes never really done it. Is it because he did a bunch of ecstacy a few weeks before he did it? Maybe fried his receptors? I am just stumped. I think hes just got a weird tolerance.

Ya, see how much he can do.

I'm not trying to preach here but where do you think that stuff goes? It can go into your heart and then you can get infections and other problems. so maybe you won't get addicted and you are just having some fun but there are still health issues to think about. as to why your brother don't feel high I don't know.

he could have a natural tolerance... i know people like that. he could of taken a good amount of prescription opiates in his day? this very well plays out on the opiate's tolerance. either that or you got garbage... shooting a quarter of a gram and being "good"??? you got garbage bro... i know people that can shoot up a tenth at once and there beyond good for like 4 hours. and its flame *** ****.

Yes people have different "natural tolerances" to drugs including opioids like Heroin (diacetylmorphine). Some people, for example, who are opioid-na?ve (have not developed tolerance from using opioids) may require higher doses of medication even if they have not been exposed to opioids. Some people may take 30 mg of oral codeine (equal to 4.5 mg morphine or (more/less) 2 mg Heroin) and they fall asleep and others can take 40 mg of oral oxycodone (equal to 60 mg morphine or (more/less) 30 mg Heroin) and hardly feel any effects.

Also even occasional opioid use, especially highly potent IV opioids like Heroin, can drastically increase tolerance especially to any euphoric effects of the drug.

So if your brother has a naturally high tolerance especially when combined with occasional use of opioids easily explains why he has few effects. And of course Heroin is hardly pharmaceutical grade so it is impossible to know how much is being used. For example 1/4th of a gram (250 mg) of pharmaceutical grade IV Heroin (and Heroin is used for medical purposes in a number of countries, especially The UK) would land most people in hospital or kill them and I can't imagine that you are truly using anywhere near 250 mg Heroin at a time.

Using MDMA (ecstasy) did not "fry" his receptors and the effects of Heroin are mediated primarily by μ-opioid receptor activation whereas the effects of MDMA is due to altering monoamine transporters and by acting as a releasing agent of serotonin and to a smaller extent norepinephrine and dopamine.

Keep in mind that people really can have drastically different results from using drugs. Heroin can cause a wide range of effects including euphoria, dysphoria, analgesia, and anxiolysis.

opioid tolerance is always developed after prolonged use. I do not use heroin. But yet I could use way more than he and not get 'high' i use other stronger opiates (10 years) legally. heroin use is just plain STUPID, you NEVER know really what you have unless you are experienced and test it using real test or you made it yourself, and I don't think you are in Afghanistan, so that said. Of course he is tolerant, that is why people get withdrawals, after a while you need the opiate just not to get sick and you don't get high. Some people also can have a tolerance due to the fact that the human brain creates it's own opiates(not heroin, duh) you really should check out other sites(wiki, and some drug sites) and get informed. YOU will develop a tolerance, even if you only use it occasionally. it was not the x
