A doctor is the only person who can really diagnose and treat your illness. it sounds viral. what that other person is suggesting is that you eat some fat. eating fat does not cure illnesses. she is very unintelligent. you may eat that honey whatever mixture, but it wont do anything, except, well, give you some calories. calories are nice. they don't cure you.

Teaspoon of honey + teaspoon of butter + cup of milk = a home remedy that gets you back on your feet the next day. Hope you get better ^-^
I heard, and actually tried this last night and will continue it and hopefully see results over time, that if you drink a little bit of sea salt in warm water before you go to bed, it helps you get a deeper and longer sleep.
Also, cloves have been used traditionally for dental pain. People apply the oil of clove to the gum when they have toothaches. Oregano has also been used as a mouthwash for inflammations of the mouth or throat. You can also use rosemary as an antibacterial gargle for sore throats.
Also, the herb licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is a common ingredient in herbal teas for sore throats. Marshmallow is also an herb, that grows in North America and Europe, that has been used for centuries as a sore throat remedy.

I think you're already helping yourself since you are going to see the doctor tomorrow. Your doctor should know what's best for you.
Try eating healthier.. like fresh fruits and vegetables. Sometimes what you eat can tamper with your sleeping habits. Or exercising.. exercising can help get you tired so you can sleep better. Try yoga, or the basics like jumping jacks/push ups/pull ups/crunches/etc.
Are you brushing and flossing daily as you should? Try a good mouthwash as well.
Or maybe try getting a massage..

Whether you are feeling lonely, depressed, or even well, you should always chant the Holy Names of God. It is the reccomended spiritual practice for this age.
You should chant Hare Krishna, or alternatively if you prefer you can chant the name of God from your religion, as long as it is addressing almighty God.. eg: Yahweh, Vishnu etc etc.
