TMJ is the temperal-mandibular joint (the joint between your jaw bone and the temporal bone of your skull. It is near the front of the ear. It can become irritated and inflamed, most commonly from incorrect body alignment or posture or teeth-grinding. This causes pain, stiffness and sometimes swelling around the joint. In my opinion the best treatment for TMJ syndrome is acupuncture, although there are other options including a plate you insert in your mouth while you sleep or even adjustments by a chiropractor. TMJ can sometimes also be associated with stress so you may find results by reducing your stress levels (exercise, yoga, meditation etc).

Hi.

TMJ syndrome is the abbreviation for temporomandibular joint dysfunction. I had it before and it hurt when I yawned or chewed. A doctor gave me muscle relaxant but it didn't help. So, I searched the www and found EFT or emotional freedom technique.

I tried it many times and now it's gone. You can try it too. There is one short video on youtube that shows how Gary Craig the founder of EFT used it.

You're gritting your teeth and your jaw has gone into spasm. Whatever will relieve the spasm is treatment. In my case, the doc made a plastic thing that I slept with at night to bite on, with more gentle results. It helps also to consider that might be causing you stress and try to address that issue also.
