Question: Potion to make someone fall asleep?
I need to, for a Macbeth project, create instructions on how to make the potion Lady Macbeth used to knock out the guards. Does anyone know of any natural ingredients that I can use for this? I have no idea what they would use to knock someone out....

At that time, most likely it was a preparation of opium and a nightshade (henbane, belladonna, iochroma, mandrake, etc.) of some sort...henbane being the nightshade of choice for "medicine" regarding sleep and anesthesia. Most likely, these ingredient would blended with other herbs to offset the bitter flavors.
