Multivitamins work best when taken with breakfast. They absorb better when taken with food and they have more time to work if you are active afterwards. When you sleep your metabolism slows. Also some people will actually feel more alert and active after taking a multivitamin and this can disrupte sleep if taken in the evening. As far as herbal meds...well it depends on what kind...and what for. Most things like fishoil should also be taken with breakfast, but if it is something to help with sleep then it would have to be taken at night.
