Wht is the best herb for detoxing the system?!

Question: i would suggest that the best way to assist your body in the detoxification process is to ensure that you are always properly hydrated by drinking plenty of fresh filtered water on a daily basis.

Our bodies are more than capable of detoxing themselves if we only give them a chance ~ water is essential for removing wastes from our bodies, is the basic solvent for all the products of digestion, and put quite simply, is our most important nutrient. 1/2 to 4/5's of the body's weight is water !! We need at least 2 litres of water on a daily basis just to maintain aspiration (to breath), so pump up your water intake and help your body to naturally maintain itself in it's finest form?

also try to cut back on drinks that will dehydrate you ie ~ coffee, teas, sodas and soft drinks, alcohol (if you drink). Just one can of soft drink will make your body peesh out up to 12 cups of water and only one cup of coffee will make your body excrete 2 cups of water ...... pretty scary actually ...... :0)

???Dandelion tea ~ the organic loose leaf variety ~ has been used traditionally throughout the East to treat complaints of the liver. Dandelion tea works wonders on a sluggish liver (the primary filtering organ of the body), gall bladder (which produces bile to assist the digestion of fatty foods) and spleen (an organ producing new red blood cells) and it encourages bowel action and reduces fluid retention. It is a natural diuretic so you therefore have to also ensure that you are drinking adequate fresh filtered water in conjunction with the tea so as not to promote dehydration.

Drinking dandelion tea will effectively detoxify your body because it stimulates digestive enzymes and bile to allow the easier metabolism of fatty foods.

Any good health food store should be able to provide you with the organic loose leaf version ~ the commercial brands have had too much of the essential oils of the plant pulverised from them and could never possibly have any therapeutic use. Besides, with the organic herb, the essential oils are still so potent that you can reuse the spent leaves in the teapot a couple more times by simply topping up with more hot water and rebrewing.

I would say that 2 teaspoons per teapot and filled with hot water to steep for 15 - 20 minutes should suffice for the day?keep cold in the fridge for 2 - 3 days if you can't finish the pot and drink nice and chilly if you like also?

Milk Thistle and Artichoke are the main ones.

Anything you like. (None of them actually do any "detoxing" at all. Your liver and kidneys do all the "detoxing" and no herb has any effect on that function, except maybe to inhibit it.)

Wheat grass and chamomile with a little black cohos the only thing an herbal detox does is clean out the natural toxins in your body it will not do any thing for a chemical detox.

You can not detoxify the system! Body takes care of that without any help.....

seriously, water. Everything else is more expensive and is mostly a placebo effect.

Liquid chlorophyll helps and a web search for "liquid chlorophyll" + detox will tell you more.

detoxing the system is usually done by your liver but in todays world it is harder for our body to do it ourself, I have been using a product called MaxGXL and it is amazing it helps to detoxify the body and it helps to increase your cellular growth and well being. This product was worth the research I did on it, I have a damaged liver from an infection I was told it could take 3-5 yrs for it to get back to normal. My blood test show great improvement in the past 4 months.

I am afraid there is nothing useful to be gained by this process. It was originally started by constipated Edwardians who refused to eat vegetables. Both the government's chief medical officer and scientific officer have recently specifically commented that the practice is worthless.

Depends on the system. Usually a combination of herbs are used. Go over to NutritionalTree.com and see which products they rate the best (they do not sell any--just rate them).

For detoxing, I use a complete cleanse. But, if looking for one best herb to recommend, I'd go with milk thistle for liver support. I will help your liver to cleanse your system. Yes, the system should cleanse naturally, but whether in the food, water or air, our bodies are being exposed to enormous amounts of toxins that 100 years ago weren't there - some of these modern toxins are by government mandate - like fluoride. I take milk thistle since studying liver function and finding that my night waking was actually a symptom of an overworked liver. So, I take 750 mg at bedtime, and sleep much more soundly and feel much better.

I would also add that not only are we subjected to more toxins daily than the body used to have to deal with, our diets have also become quite void of those things which our ancestors had regularly to help them digest and detoxify. Dandelion was mentioned by one poster. Well, my grandparents all had yearly dandelion in the spring as a food. They would eat it like any other green. When was the last time that anyone picked up a can of dandelion at the grocery store - which would have been over processed and void of aid anyway. Also, we used to be a multi grain society, and are now pretty much a wheat, and bleached, bromated, re-partially-enriched, dead wheat society at that!

Getting our heads out of the sand and eating more whole foods which have been locally (for freshness and potency) and organically produced will help. But, society today does not lend itself to naturally detoxing. Even the suggestion to drink plenty of water is rife with pitfalls. Most people's water supply, though not bacterially contaminated, is instead chemically contaminated with chlorine and fluoride as well as others, and heavy metal, pesticide, and waste laden. Just taking a shower in this toxic sludge that tries to pass itself off as pure clean water can add toxins!

Not all filtration systems are helpful either, as some remove beneficial minerals while leaving fluoride and other FDA, AMA considered healthful contaminants in. And, a private well or spring is no guarantee of safe water. It must be tested to make sure it hasn't suffered from run off from nearby commercial farming. Many private wells in Maine are contaminated by the potato industry. At a certain level of contamination the homeowner can't even sell their house without adding a full house water filtration system to remove those contaminants. Those contaminants are also in the potatoes that are grown for consumption.

My husband already lost one kidney to our toxin laden environment. We now maintain the body's cleansing system so he doesn't have to lose another! Anyone who thinks the body doesn't need help detoxifying this garbage has the wrong end up. Good for you for checking to see what you can do. You may want to do a combination of things though, as with alternative medicine there is no silver bullet or magic pill. It takes proper combinations and individualized consideration.

Best health to you.
