Does Alcohol weaken your immune system?!

Question: In and of itself, no.

ABUSE of alcohol, on the other hand, destroys a lot of body functions and cell growth, suppresses immune function, weakens immune response, damages the liver, kidneys and the rest of the endocrine system, and can do a lot of other damage too.

In moderate doses, alcohol is not necessarily harmful, although what is defined as moderate is different for each individual.

It is important to remember certain things about alcohol:

Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant, which means it slows down your metabolism;

Alcohol dehydrates your brain and your body, which means in order for moderate use to be of any help, you also need to consume more water than normal;

Alcohol lowers your reflexes and your inhibitions starting with the very first drop, so even drinking it in moderation, you must be on guard against your own perception of how you are "doing" in terms of consumption and reaction. Your judgement of how much is enough is affected.

Alcohol interferes with the absorption of many medications and alters the effects of others, so you must be extra careful not to mix alcohol with meds without checking with your doctor, and even then it's best to just not drink if you're taking prescription medications.

I hope this has proven to be helpful, you really do need to consider the amount before a flat answer to your question can be given....

yes and ruin your liver.....

uhhh yes

yes.

UMM I DON'T KNOW!!?!?! Go out and try it.

no of course not! they're only people dying of liver failure and alcohol poisoning every single freaking hour of the day because they commited suicide vs. their immune system shutting down!

in moderation, it can actually prevent heart attacks and keep blood pressure low, which is good. too much will hurt all your systems.

Yes it does and I'm getting weaker by the minute -- LOL

it ruins your life

yes very much it dose over time.

kinda but it destroys you digestive system

no, it cured me. i swear. a little alcohol is god's miracle.

yes, it also attacks your morality, your modesty and your breath.

Not if you put poop in it

it actually inhibits the immune response since the receptors are being blocked and your body is too busy detoxing.. however it won't weaken it.. it will just not work for as long as you're drunk!

yes, but alcohol senitizes your body also so your are even. no gain or loss.

Alcohol is a poison, period. It dehydrates the body... water is the most important necessity of the human.

It definitely puts a strain on your liver and if your liver is not happy, your body is not doing well. Also, your immune system lives mostly in your gut, and when it is full of alcohol, then it is not working as well as it could.

are you crazy??? of course it does!! not only does it weaken it, but you will never feel good, after u have been drining for along time, your tollerance get higher, so it take more alcohol to give u a buzz, so u are just making it harder for your self. Puls it ruins your liver, and makes you do stupid things/

Yes, it does.

Booze produces an overall nutritional deficiency, removing the body of valuable immune- boosting nutrients. Second, alcohol, like sugar, consumed in excess can reduce the ability of white cells to kill germs.

Not sure about the exact effect on the immune system... but since it eliminates the normal ability of analysing and rejecting potentially harmful things.... irrespective of the immune system you would end up sick.

Yes, indirectly. It depletes the body of vitamins and minerals. It takes energy to metabolize the alcohol. It also taxes the kidneys and liver which filter / clean the blood.

Indeed it does!! It can deplete your body of the water soluble vitamin C and also of Zinc.

Vitamin C is essential for the formation of collagen, which is important for the growth and repair of body tissue cells. It is also essential in preventing many types of viral and bacterial infections and generally bolstering your immune system.

Zinc is essential for protein synthesis and collagen formation and acts as a traffic director telling C what to do. Zinc will increase the power of C ten fold and will also help reduce the length and severity of colds.

Alcohol destroys brain cells by causing the withdrawal of necessary water from them.... alcohol is incredibly dehydrating. It will also hinder the liver's ability to process fat and is capable of rupturing veins.

Good health to you & yours?

CHEERS
?

literally speaking, yes, alcohol affects our immune system.. FYI, it has a good therapeutic effect to our body such as it helps in increasing blood circulation, it calms us from anxiety as well, and of course, it give us time to bond with our family and friends.. but, one thing we all know and we're aware about is, when you drink too much of alcohol, in other words, you abuse using it, it's not good to our body. it greatly affects our body, specially our internal organs at the same time our immune system is weaken and that can make you close of getting sick.. the most organ that will be affected for alcoholism is the LIVER, and if this organ fails to function, all of the fats and toxins that are not filtered will be spread all over your body, and it'll also kill other organs that will kill your body, and that will be the time you'll gonna say goodbye to the world.. that's the case of LIVER CIRRHOSIS, the disease you get from alcoholism...

and one thing more i'd like to add, too much alcohol intake, it can make you blind and sterile

eventualkly if to much alcohol comes into ur body at one time it can shut down ur liver and kill you so yeah it can be bad!
